MEMORIES OF JOY

Now that I find
as nature goes
memories of pain
fade like afterglow

A few last days of misery
start to fade and dim
replaced with thoughts
of so many years
Filled with happiness and joy

Memory of easing his pain now starting to vanish
amid mindful longing for that last peaceful week
and by thoughts of holding him close
embracing enveloping inhaling infusing
his essence and feel and fur and touch

So now the sadness sets in and deeper it goes
as I start to remember so many years
filled with days of adventure and drama
worry and woe
but mostly of joy and happiness so

for Beau

   A.M. FUN

A.M Fun
Could that be done?
Even with pajamas on?

How might one
Turn off the sun?
And turn it on
Once fun is done?

I show you the magic
You can ride with me
See the daystar dim inside
And the moon glow fervently

Deep inside the inner darkness
Shall be light of glowing amber
Just enough to find my way

Your heated breath to draw me in
Already taking the full measure
Of your sweet and sticky treasure.

Your humility is rare these days.
Most folks don't even care these days
Modestly is honestly the rarest thing these days I've seen.

think you're humble
Even when
your mind is filled with all that sin
You're not an asshole
Even though
Ass might be where your thoughts flow
You're not cocky
Even so
cock can always steal the show.

There's the modesty again.
Expressions are expressions, man
Erotica can be poetic.
A poem could be hot if you let it.
Any avenue you choose to drive you through,
You'll never lose

my current favorite Diana Ross song

VOICE OF THE HEART

Songwriters: J.T. STANLEY, JOHN BETTIS, BRUCE ROBERTS

Sometimes when your world seems so big and real
You may run to the shelter of the walls
Sometimes you may wish
You could be like your shadow
It fits wherever it falls

Whenever the night's too deep to find
And the morning is too far away
Wherever you are
There's always a star to guide the way
There to guide the way

If you listen long enough
If you dream it strong enough
A door inside will open
And a light will flood the dark
Like a song too long unsung
Or a soul forever young
We all will find an answer
In the voice of the heart

Tonight if a dream should come to your sleep
With a picture you don't wanna see
Go where it leads, from secret to secret
You are what you want to be

Whenever the sun refuses to shine
And you can't chase the storm clouds away
Wherever you are
There's always a star to guide the way
There to guide the way

If you listen long enough
If you dream it strong enough
A door inside will open
And a light will flood the dark
Like a song too long unsung
Or a soul forever young
We all will find an answer
In the voice of the heart

Livin' in a private world
There are times when it's hard to break through
So don't give up
Each time you hurt, you've got nothin' to lose
There's a voice inside of you

If you listen long enough
If you dream it strong enough
A door inside will open
And a light will flood the dark
Like a song too long unsung
Or a soul forever young
We will find the answer
In the voice of the heart

If you listen long enough
If you dream it strong enough
A door inside will open
And a light will flood the dark
Like a song too long unsung
Or a soul forever young
We will find an answer
In the voice of the heart

If you listen long enough
If you dream it strong enough
We will find the answer
Like a song too long unsung
Or a soul forever young

Throw It Away

Written by Abbey Lincoln

I think about the life I live
A figure made of clay
And think about the things I lost
The things I gave away

And when I'm in a certain mood
I search the house and look
One night I found these magic words
In a magic book

Throw it away
Throw it away
Give your love, live your life
Each and every day
And keep your hand wide open

Let the sun shine through
'Cause you can never lose a thing
If it belongs to you

There's a hand to rock the cradle
And a hand to help us stand
With a gentle kind of motion
As it moves across the land

And the hand's unclenched and open
Gifts of life and love it brings
So keep your hand wide open
If you're needing anything

Throw it away
Throw it away
Give your love, live your life
Each and every day

And keep your hand wide open
Let the sun shine through
'Cause you can never lose a thing
If it belongs to you

Throw it away
Throw it away
Give your love, live your life
Each and every day

And keep your hand wide open
Let the sun shine through
'Cause you can never lose a thing
If it belongs to you

'Cause you can never lose a thing
If it belongs to you
You can never ever lose a thing
If it belongs to you

You can never ever lose a thing
If it belongs to you
You can never ever lose a thing
If it belongs to you

DECEMBER ROSE

Up on Myosotis Hill
Are some roses that will thrill
Colors from each rainbow hue
Petals open just for you

Showing even in December
Nature’s beauty to remember
Through the bitter winter cold
Till spring again brings colors bold

Wondering wondering through and through
Is only nature always true

The following is part of a song written by an advocate for social justice who is a Catholic nun, and songwriter, and musician, in response to the Vatican's despicable efforts to silence the community of women  in religious faith based orders, many of whom spend their days feeding or caring for the less fortunate and or fighting for social justice here on earth.  I am reminded of my mother and many of her friends who devote time in their parish community to help others, as distinct from the autority figures in the church and vatican.

Love cannot be silenced.
It never has.
It never will.
Let justice roll like a river
from the oceans to the hills

Now this is poetry:

ANOTHER COUNTRY

Written by Cassandra Wilson

I don’t know
Where we’re going
I’ve no idea
How this feeling
When love beginning
Happens in the curtain
Of your skin

The autumn rains
Turned into thunderstorms
The waters rose
I was traveling
in your arms

When I woke up
in the morning
I was breathing
I was breathing
I was alive
I saw another country in your eyes

Frozen in silent moments
I watched your tiny spirit fly
Soaring above the ceiling
Into the midnight winter sky

And you were gone
I searched a million years
All through the night
Love had disappeared

And when I woke up
In the morning
You were breathing
You were breathing there
Right by my side
I found another country in your eyes

The midday sun is beating drums
Quarter time on our parade
We drove past city limits
Engines blazing all the way

A warm embrace
Became consuming fire
Our bodies burn
Mounted pictures slide

And when we wakened
In the morning
We were breathing
We were breathing
We’ll never die
I’ve seen so many countries in your eyes

The above is based on repeated listening and may be incorrect in part; I could not find printed lyrics anywhere.

This was inspired by the notorious Grey Goose one evening.

Using the music for "Where Have all the Flowers Gone" and write lyrics for the new title "Where Has All the Grey Goose Gone?"  My favorite 3 entries get posted on my blog - what do you mean is that all?  you were expecting a goose?  the goose is GONE!

Since that didn't work, here's another one, same song, but entitled, "Where Have All the Civil Rights Gone?

      A NEW POEM

             #2

THANKSGIVING 2012

Retirement done
My papers are filed
And organized

Thankful for
A fulfilling career
I gave it my all

And for tears now so sweet
Full of fond reminisce
And the pride that I find
Of a clear mind

It’s been so long
My heart repaired
My soul
Still there

My energy renewed
So many projects to do
Love writing anew

Forward I go
What’s next
I don’t know
A-blogging I go

MY FIRST POEM
RICK
He won’t come in
And he won’t go away
He won’t move closer
Nor push me away.

I think he saw inside my soul
I saw his eyes glow.
I accept he’s my friend
But what if that ends

I’ll play the old songs
And think of him again
And I’ll smile
I HOPE I’ll smile.

I said how can I marry
Without equal value
Been fulfilled 3 times
By love everlasting.

Isn’t that enough
How could I endure more
Of that sweet and sour and spicy
Amalgamation of love.

He said but what about me, and all of those
Who need your love, sweeter than any they have known,
Said he has so much love to give, who is that for?
Isn’t that enough, where should he go?

So here I go again
Deep Deep Deeper
Into this meeting of minds,
Hearts, and souls

But I didn’t mean you
Especially not after that

Original version
By Brock S. Evans, and Rick
October 21, 2012

As revised by Brock S. Evans, below, October 27, 2012:

RICK
He won’t come in
And he won’t go away
He won’t move closer
Nor push me away.

I think he saw inside my soul
I saw his eyes glow.
I accept he’s my friend
But what if that ends

I’ll play the old songs
And think of him again
And I’ll smile
I HOPE I’ll smile.

So now we get to marry
How nice for the young,
To have the right to hope
For love everlasting
A binding contract no less

But tis too late for me
how can I marry
and go through that again
Been fulfilled 3 times
By love everlasting.

Isn’t that enough
How could I endure more
Of that sweet and sour and spicy
Amalgamation of love.

He said but what about me
What about me
What about me
And others too

You have no love to give you say
Then take mine I have so much
Who will take my love
Commit to me
with honesty
Why not you

I have reasons I do
They are here somewhere
You want to see my scars
On my heart and soul
Covered with the mind absentia
Wrought by the twisted bliss
Of substances that bring the blessed numbness.

Aren’t I too old
To feel all this again
Love and Pain
I was done with all that
Would never feel again
Alive

Now you make me feel
Alive, again
Against my will
I settled all this
So long ago
Don’t you know

Know what
How to live
without love
Is that life

I have to live
And love
And lose
And win

Accept the raw
Pain and joy
Of Life
And Love
Forever

So marry me
I’ll never let you go.

I was listening to a new mix of this song and it reminded me of my first poem, but it is not exactly the same.

SELFISH ONE  - DIANA ROSS – (GeeJay2001 extended play)

written by C. Smith & W. McKinley

from the Album RED HOT RHYTHM & BLUES, 1987

Selfish one, why keep your love to yourself,
It's like a souvenir that just sits on a shelf,
It seems like you built a fence around your heart,
Afraid that sharing might tear it apart,
You pass up every chance
At the start of romance

Selfish one, why keep your love in store,
You think it's still that keeps forever more,
You feel as I do when I ache,
My heart could break down
In a lonely stage,
You better let your heart find a mate
Before it's too late

You let so much time pass by,
I find myself still giving you the eye,
You must have realized much to my surprise,
You're making eyes at me, is it really you,
Now selfish one, you're walking me to my door,
Selfish one, you never did this before

Without a chance to resist, your lips get mine,
You're beginning to let your love light shine
I can see that you're really on the ball,
You're not selfish at all,
No, not at all

The way you hold me,
the way you squeeze me,
No you're not selfish,
No, no, no, you're not selfish at all, not at all

The way you hold me,
The way you squeeze me,
You're not selfish at all,
No not at all,
The way you hold me,
You're not selfish at all.

I never heard this song before I saw Barbara Cook perform it earlier this month.  Of course, I loved the lyrics.

If I Love Again

I often wonder why he came to me
Brought such a flame to me

And let it die
And if another love should find my heart
It will remind my heart of your goodbye

With every new love you
Will come back to me
In others eyes, its you I see
If I love again
Though its someone new

If I love again
It'll still be you
In someone else's firm embrace
I'll close my eyes but see your face

If I love again
I'll find other charms
But I'll make believe, you are in my arms
And though my lips whisper

"I love you"
My heart will not be true
I'll be loving
Every time I love again

    1. Thank you so much for your comment and encouragement. Took a little more time off from the blog than expected. Now that I have created it, and am happy with it, and took the time to learn from virtual mistakes, trying to identify where to go from here, focus, start to publicize, and consider 'commercialization'. Congratulations on providing the first comment on my blog!!!@!
